Tax System Reforms Enhance Business Facilitation

Islamabad: Major economic reforms since 2024 to modernize the tax system, digital payments, and the trade sector have significantly improved business facilitation across Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the modernization of the tax system yielded a substantial 26% growth in tax collection during the fiscal year 2025. More than 34,000 taxpayers were integrated into the online billing system, while the tax collection process was improved through the deployment of 43,000 digital billing machines. Additionally, the integration of Artificial Intelligence optimized the identification of tax evasion, resulting in billions of rupees of additional tax collected from important industrial sectors.

Under the Digital Pakistan initiatives, RAAST expanded digital payments to 50 million more people and 1.1 million businesses, raising the total number of users to 130 million. Furthermore, the integration of online payment facilities across public institutions, including NADRA, made fee submissions and other payments much easier for citizens.

To foster a business-friendly environment and boost trade, the government initiated major tariff reforms for the first time under the National Tariff Policy 2025-30.
