World Bank Applauds Pakistan’s Economic Stability

Islamabad: The World Bank has praised Pakistan for achieving economic stability through prudent macroeconomic measures, a feat described as turning the impossible into possible. This commendation came during a meeting between the Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, Anna Bjerde, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Anna Bjerde, who is leading a World Bank delegation on a visit to Pakistan, lauded the country's recent economic performance and stability as exemplary. She emphasized the value of the historic partnership between the World Bank and Pakistan and expressed her eagerness to continue this collaboration to achieve positive outcomes.

Bjerde also highlighted the recognition of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership, noting that the World Bank's Country Partnership Framework is being referred to as 'the Pakistan Model' globally. She credited the Prime Minister's leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people, sustainable development policies, and inclusive stakeholder engagement as exemplary practices for the World Bank's framework in other nations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on the occasion, acknowledged the pivotal role of the World Bank in Pakistan's development. He expressed gratitude for the World Bank's Country Partnership, which aims to facilitate development investments exceeding 20 billion dollars in Pakistan. The Prime Minister assured that the government is taking practical steps to ensure the effective utilization of the World Bank's development investments.

The Prime Minister also referenced the World Bank's assistance during the 2022 floods in Pakistan, which severely impacted the livelihoods and properties of millions, underscoring the importance of the continued partnership.
