Lahore: Twenty-seven individuals have tragically lost their lives due to rain-related incidents in Punjab. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of heavy rains expected to continue across various parts of the province until tomorrow.
According to Radio Pakistan, the PDMA has fully activated both its provincial control room and district emergency operation centers to monitor the situation continuously. Rescue agencies, including Rescue 1122 and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), have been instructed to keep their machinery and personnel ready to respond at any moment.
Citizens have been advised to exercise caution and stay clear of electric poles, hanging wires, and any buildings that may be weak or dilapidated. In case of emergencies, the public is encouraged to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 for assistance.
The report from the Authority highlighted that over forty-six people have been injured in these incidents over the last twenty-four hours. The PDMA and associated agencies continue to work tirelessly to manage the situation and prevent further casualties.
