Amir Muqam Urges Joint Strategy for Peace in Merged Districts

Islamabad: Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam presided over a meeting in Islamabad today and stressed to devise a joint strategy for peace and development in merged districts. Various proposals regarding peace, security, and development of the merged districts were discussed in the meeting.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting deliberated on the revival of the Jirga system in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and considered alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to make civil administration more effective. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the meeting decided to make the Terms of Reference of the reform committee more comprehensive and effective to ensure sustainable development and the establishment of peace and order in these districts.

Amir Muqam stated that collaboration with the provincial government is essential to implement these plans. He further mentioned that the shared agenda is to provide relief to the people of the former FATA, restore peace and order, and ensure they receive their rightful access to facilities in education, health, and all development sectors.

Participants emphasized that the people of the former FATA have made significant sacrifices for a long time, and now is the time to grant them their due status.
