Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed deep concern over the unprecedented militarization of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing the region as a vast open-air prison.
According to Radio Pakistan, in a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas highlighted that the presence of Indian troops has significantly altered civilian life, instilling a pervasive sense of fear and placing every street and neighborhood under stringent surveillance. He emphasized that India has stationed nearly one million troops in the territory, resulting in a world-record military-to-civilian ratio, with one soldier for every seven civilians.
Advocate Minhas urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to hold India accountable for the systematic militarization and demographic changes being enforced in the region. He called for urgent actions to address these pressing issues.
In a related development, the State Investigation Agency, along with Indian paramilitary forces, conducted a raid on the residence of Mohammad Jameel, a civilian residing in the Sawjian area of Poonch district. The operation reportedly involved harassment of the residents, and the confiscation of various documents, including house papers, bank records, mobile phones, and other electronic devices.
