Karachi: The nineteenth death anniversary of renowned painter Ahmed Saeed Nagi was observed on Monday. He was celebrated for his significant contributions to the field of art and his involvement in the freedom movement during a critical period in history.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmed Saeed Nagi was born on February 2, 1916, in Amritsar, where he also received his early education before pursuing further studies in Lahore, Delhi, and Paris. His career was marked not only by his artistic accomplishments but also by his dedication to the freedom movement from 1944 to 1947. One of his notable achievements was painting a portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah while sitting face to face with him.
Nagi's artistic works have been showcased in several international cities, including Paris, London, Lausanne, New York, Zagreb, Tehran, Delhi, Shimla, Lahore, and Karachi, reflecting his global recognition. His contributions to art were acknowledged when he was awarded the President's Award for Pride of Performance.
Ahmed Saeed Nagi passed away in 2006, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire artists and art enthusiasts in Pakistan and beyond. His death anniversary serves as a reminder of his influence and the indelible mark he left on the world of art.
