Lahore: Under the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police's anti-narcotics operations are underway across the province as part of the 'Drug-Free Punjab' vision. In continuation of these efforts, a total of 57,974 raids were conducted this year on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province. 32,275 suspects involved in drug trafficking were arrested and cases were registered against them. The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing the details, said that 18,898 kilograms of charas, 1,638 kilograms of heroin, 981 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), 2,296 kilograms of opium, and 464,641 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals.
According to Punjab Police, in the provincial capital Lahore, 6,596 drug dealers were arrested. The recovered substances from these individuals in Lahore included 3,393 kilograms of charas, 298 kilograms of heroin, 528 kilograms of ice, 253 kilograms of opium, and 40,556 liters of liquor. IG Punjab has ordered further intensification of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. While instructing the officers, he said that all individuals involved in the drug supply chain must be brought to justice and given strict punishments. He also directed that operations against those involved in drug trafficking around educational institutions and hostels be accelerated.
