Finance Minister Heads to Spain for Global Development Financing Conference

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has embarked on a journey to Seville, Spain, to engage in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), scheduled from July 1 to 3, 2025.

According to Ministry of Finance, the high-level global conference aims to unite leaders, policymakers, and international development experts in a collaborative effort to explore innovative and sustainable financing strategies designed to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on developing and emerging economies.

During his visit, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will represent Pakistan in the main conference sessions and various high-level side events. On the inaugural day, he is set to co-chair the Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable on 'Leveraging Private Business and Finance,' and will also deliver a keynote address at the International Business Forum Policy Dialogue, focusing on 'Accelerating EMDEs Investment: The Role of Credit Ratings.'

The Finance Minister is scheduled to address the General Debate of the conference and engage in a roundtable discussion on 'Revitalizing International Development Cooperation.' Additionally, he will participate in a UNICEF-hosted side event to discuss 'Driving Capital Towards Children and Young People: A Dialogue on Innovative and Sustainable Financing for Children.'

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb will also grace a special session as Chief Guest, titled 'Swapping Out Debt for Development: The DCS Financing Approach,' where he will present Pakistan's perspectives on debt transformation and the potential of deposit protection mechanisms to support development finance. Furthermore, he will contribute as a panelist at the International Business Forum's side event on 'Scaling Up SME Finance,' which focuses on enhancing financial inclusion for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Beyond the conference, the Finance Minister will hold bilateral meetings with key international figures, including Mr. John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, and H.E. Mr. Steven Collet, Vice Minister for Development of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The Finance Minister's involvement in FFD4 highlights Pakistan's dedication to advocating for innovative financing solutions, strengthening international cooperation, and amplifying the country's voice in the global development dialogue.
