Govt Forms Task Force to Tackle Population Growth Issue

Islamabad: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has urged all political stakeholders to rise above partisan interests for the collective good of the country. Addressing a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Planning in Islamabad on Friday, he emphasized that decisions for the sustainable development of the country should be made in the spirit of national interest.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister labeled the country's rapid population growth as a national emergency and announced the formation of a National Task Force to address the issue. This Task Force will include religious scholars, civil society members, and representatives from various sectors to develop a coordinated program for population control.

The Planning Ministry has also formulated a comprehensive roadmap under the "URAAN Pakistan" vision to tackle national challenges. This initiative aims to transform Pakistan into a one trillion-dollar economy by 2035.
