Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government is actively pursuing an agenda focused on the digitization of the economy, the rightsizing of public institutions, and the merit-based appointment of experts within public sector organizations. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting on the progress of the Public-Private Partnership Authority, which discussed the appointment of technical experts in federal ministries and departments as well as strategies for attracting foreign investment.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that institutional reforms are a top priority for the government. He reiterated that there would be no compromise on merit and transparency in the appointment processes for technical experts. The Public-Private Partnership Authority briefed the Prime Minister on the current status of appointments, noting that fifteen technical positions have been filled, with recruitment underway for an additional forty-seven posts.
The briefing also highlighted that federal ministries have nominated focal teams to devise investment-related strategies. Sectoral roadmaps for investment in Information Technology and Telecom, Railways, and Tourism have already been prepared. Moreover, sectoral frameworks for investment in Food Security, Maritime Affairs, Minerals, Tourism, Industry, Housing, and Energy are nearing completion.
Pitch books have been developed for eighteen economic sectors, with the objective of assigning investment projects to countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Kuwait.
