Islamabad: 'The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding' and the 'Lucerne Summit' reinforce Pakistan's faith in dialogue and diplomacy for peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts. This was stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan welcomes the positive recognition and encouraging remarks from various countries, partners, and members of the international community regarding its constructive role in promoting regional peace, dialogue, and de-escalation efforts. Andrabi emphasized that such recognition reflects the international community's trust in Pakistan's commitment to advancing dialogue, peace, security, and stability across the region and beyond.

Tahir Andrabi expressed Pakistan's sincere appreciation to all countries and partners that have supported its efforts. He also acknowledged the responsible and constructive role played by the Pakistani media throughout this process, highlighting their professionalism and maturity in maintaining confidentiality, discretion, and trust, which are crucial for any credible facilitation or mediation effort.

The Spokesperson emphasized the historic significance of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Pakistan, marking his first trip abroad following the war. During this visit, both sides realigned and reaffirmed their resolve to advance peace and stability, which was a major outcome of the visit. Pakistan's role as a mediator and facilitator in the talks was reaffirmed, with the Iranian side expressing its trust in Pakistan.

The visit carried significant outcomes in terms of its historic importance and the relations between the two nations. Andrabi also mentioned that technical-level talks between the United States and Iran are continuing.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the Spokesperson stated that Pakistan considers it an important maritime route essential for global economic sustenance and the energy market's supply chain. Pakistan wishes it to remain free for navigation.

In response to questions about engagement and diplomacy with Afghanistan similar to the US-Iran conflict, Andrabi explained that Pakistan pursued diplomacy with Afghanistan from 2021 to 2025. However, the security situation exceeded Pakistan's patience by the end of 2025. He emphasized that verifiable and concrete actions from the Afghan side are essential to restore confidence and ensure that Afghan soil will not be used for attacks against Pakistan if diplomacy is to restart.
