Islamabad: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), has launched several initiatives aimed at improving vocational training opportunities and expanding institutional capacity for persons with disabilities.
According to Radio Pakistan, the details were discussed during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, chaired by the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The meeting addressed the modernization of the National Training Centre for Special Persons, in partnership with NAVTTC, to transform it into an inclusive and market-oriented vocational training institution. This transformation aims to equip individuals with disabilities with industry-relevant skills and enhance their employment opportunities.
Participants in the meeting agreed that NAVTTC would expedite the registration and affiliation process for the National Training Centre for Special Persons, without imposing any financial burden on the institution. Additionally, the professional capacity of trainers and instructors at the center will be enhanced through Training of Trainers programs and refresher courses.
Special attention was given to curriculum development and modernization. NAVTTC will collaborate closely with the National Training Centre for Special Persons to revise and adapt curricula, ensuring that training programs are demand-driven and responsive to the diverse learning needs of persons with disabilities.
The meeting also resolved to upgrade the laboratories at the National Training Centre for Special Persons with technical assistance from NAVTTC. Recognizing the importance of employability and economic inclusion, NAVTTC will support career counseling services and enhance job placement opportunities for trainees through strengthened industry linkages and employment facilitation mechanisms.
