Islamabad: The National Assembly resumed its session at the parliament house with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presiding. The House passed a resolution reaffirming Pakistan's historic and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice.
According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution moved by Shazia Marri expressed deep concerns over the continuing and escalating Israeli military aggression in Gaza, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction. It strongly condemned recent statements and actions by Israeli authorities indicating plans for long-term occupation of Gaza, forced displacement of its population, and efforts to erase the Palestinian identity of the territory. The resolution also condemned the use of starvation, siege, and collective punishment as tools of war, emphasizing that these acts are war crimes under international law.
The House called upon the UN and the international community to take immediate and concrete steps to end Israeli military aggression in Gaza and ensure the protection of civilians and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance. It emphasized the need to hold the occupying power accountable for its war crimes and crimes against humanity and to support the Palestinian people in their quest for justice and self-determination.
Additionally, the House passed a resolution urging the federal government to strengthen the legal framework to ensure strict punishment for unauthorized video recording, cyber harassment, and digital defamation. The resolution moved by Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar emphasized enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies, including digital forensic units, to investigate and respond effectively. It also called for public awareness campaigns about digital rights, legal remedies, and safe reporting channels, alongside the establishment of dedicated complaint desks in police stations.
In another resolution, the National Assembly strongly condemned the unlawful acts of so-called honor killings. Moved by Shahida Rehmani, it emphasized zero tolerance towards such acts and proposed the formation of an interprovincial task force for coordinated action against them.
Meanwhile, two bills were laid before the House: the Pakistan Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Motor Vehicles Industry Development Bill, 2025. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary and Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain laid before the house the Capital Development Authority Amendment Ordinance, 2025, and the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority Ordinance, 2025, respectively.
Responding to a calling attention notice, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary stated that a major water project is being planned to address the water needs of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He mentioned initiatives like recharge wells to improve the underground water level.
The National Assembly was informed about resolving the issues concerning the employees of the Utility Stores Corporation through a golden handshake scheme. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary announced the establishment of a committee to address the concerns of the Utility Stores Corporation employees.
Minister of State for Climate Change Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal informed the House about the development of a national climate finance strategy aimed at leveraging climate finance internationally and domestically by promoting green financing. She highlighted the Recharge Pakistan project for water conservation and the development of climate-resilient infrastructure.
The National Assembly passed two bills, including the Societies Registration Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Criminal Laws Amendment Bill, 2025. The House will reconvene tomorrow at eleven am.
