Pakistan and China Forge $440 Million Pharmaceutical Agreements

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have signed several agreements worth 440 million dollars in the field of pharmaceutical industry. The agreements were signed between Pakistani and Chinese pharmaceutical companies at a Pakistan-China Business-to-Business investment conference in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that these agreements would soon translate into practical projects and implementation. He described them as another important step forward in promoting CPEC 2.0. The participation of around 300 Chinese delegates in the conference reflects the unwavering commitment of both countries to expanding economic and commercial cooperation.

Highlighting the significance of the pharmaceutical partnership, Shehbaz Sharif noted that collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese companies would help promote the manufacturing of life-saving medicines and vaccines, strengthen research and development, and enable Pakistan to emerge as a regional center of excellence for pharmaceutical exports.

Referring to the prevailing regional situation, the Prime Minister mentioned that the ongoing crisis has caused significant disruption not only in the region but across the world. He stated that Pakistan has played an important role in promoting dialogue and mediation between the United States and Iran. Reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to the safety of Chinese nationals, he emphasized that the security of Chinese individuals working in Pakistan remains the government's highest priority.

Later, addressing a news conference, Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal expressed confidence that the agreements would help create job opportunities, facilitate the transfer of technology, and enable Pakistan to enter into new markets. On this occasion, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted that Pakistan has achieved macro-economic stability and is on the path to becoming a manufacturing hub.
