Pakistan, Somalia Discuss Defence and Healthcare Collaboration

Doha: Additional Foreign Secretary Hamid Asghar represented Pakistan at the OIC Contact Group on Somalia hosted by Qatar in Doha. He met with the Foreign Minister of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on the sidelines of the conference to discuss various bilateral collaborations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions focused on enhancing training in different fields, building naval capacities, and establishing direct shipping routes between Karachi and Mogadishu. The talks also covered potential defence collaboration and the facilitation of medical visas, as well as the provision of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products.

In addition to these discussions, the Somali Foreign Minister accepted an invitation from Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, to visit Pakistan, signaling a strengthening of ties between the two nations.
