PM Orders Modern Solid Waste Management System Across Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities concerned to introduce the latest and sustainable solid waste management system in collaboration with provincial governments across the country, including Islamabad. He was presiding over a meeting regarding solid waste management in Islamabad today [Tuesday].

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized using environmental-friendly and renewable sources of energy for sustainable development as a government priority. He instructed the formation of a task force to propose a comprehensive plan for producing energy from solid waste. Additionally, it was decided to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for generating electricity from solid waste.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the task force will prepare recommendations in light of modern technology and international experiences. The Prime Minister directed that the proposed task force include experts from the private sector and internationally renowned specialists.

He noted that generating energy from solid waste will reduce dependence on imported fuel and save valuable foreign exchange. Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that an improved solid waste management system can significantly reduce the carbon footprint.

Federal Ministers, including Ahsan Iqbal, Ali Parvez Malik, Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Prime Minister's advisers Rana Sanaullah and Muhammad Ali, and senior officials from relevant departments were also present in the meeting.
