PM Shehbaz Reiterates Resolve to Cement Ties with Indonesia

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to explore and expand collaboration with Indonesia in joint ventures of investment in mutually beneficial projects. He was speaking with Indonesian Defence Minister, Lieutenant General (Retd) Syafrie Samsudin, who paid him a visit in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting highlighted the longstanding, brotherly, and friendly bilateral relations that exist between Pakistan and Indonesia. During the discussion, the Prime Minister reminisced about his cordial meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subiantuo on the sidelines of the G-8 Summit in Cairo, and he extended his best wishes to the Indonesian President.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia, which is rooted in shared cultural, religious, and historical bonds. He noted that both nations support each other at international forums and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation with Indonesia across various sectors, including economic, strategic, trade, and defense.

The meeting also focused on enhancing multi-faceted bilateral cooperation, with the Prime Minister reviewing ongoing initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesia Defence Cooperation Agreement. Both sides agreed to expedite the implementation of key areas of mutual interest.

On this occasion, Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Syafrie Samsudin conveyed President Prabowo Subiantro's best wishes for the Prime Minister and people of Pakistan. He expressed Indonesia's desire to further strengthen defense ties with Pakistan and explore potential areas for cooperation, particularly in defense production.
