Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed sorrow over the demise of former Romanian President Mr. Ion Iliescu.

According to Radio Pakistan, in his condolence message, the President extended heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Romania, as well as to the bereaved family of the late President Ion Iliescu. He conveyed these sentiments on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan and in his personal capacity.

The President highlighted Mr. Ion Iliescu's leadership during Romania's transition to democracy, noting it as a defining chapter in the nation's history. He stated that Mr. Iliescu's service to his country will be remembered with respect and admiration.

President Asif Ali Zardari also offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the Romanian nation during this time of mourning.
