Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched the Ramazan Relief Package 2026, allocating 38 billion rupees to support the initiative. He presided over a review meeting on the implementation of the package in Islamabad, emphasizing the increased financial assistance from the previous year's 5,000 rupees to 13,000 rupees per beneficiary to better aid deserving families during Ramazan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted that this is the largest and most comprehensive Ramazan relief package in the nation's history. Building on the prior year's successful model, the funds are being distributed through a transparent digital system, with financial assistance directly transferred to beneficiaries via digital wallets. This method enhances transparency and convenience, eliminating the need for long queues and preserving the dignity of recipients.
During the meeting, progress on the PM Ramazan Relief Package 2026 was reviewed. It was noted that by the 8th of Ramazan, 64 percent of beneficiaries had received their payments, with the verification and disbursement process for the remaining beneficiaries underway. The briefing also disclosed that twelve banks and financial technology companies are collaborating with the government to distribute funds, while beneficiaries have conducted 1.1 million digital transactions so far. Additionally, over 1.2 million automated robo-calls have been made to increase awareness among beneficiaries.
The meeting further informed that the PM Ramazan Package encompasses the entire country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. The implementation of digital wallets marks a significant step towards a data-driven financial system, with real-time dashboards providing updates on payments to ensure transparency. A comprehensive awareness campaign about the PM Ramazan Package is being executed through various media platforms.
