Rizwan Reaffirms Commitment to Boost Pak-US Trade

Los Angeles: Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has reiterated the commitment of Pakistan's government to further deepen Pak-US trade volume in the coming years for the mutual benefit of both countries. He was addressing a reception hosted by the Pakistan-American Chambers of Commerce (PACC) in Los Angeles.

According to Radio Pakistan, prominent members of the Pakistani-American business community and business leaders from various sectors attended the reception and participated in the discussions. The Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Asim Ali Khan, and the Trade and Investment Counsellor were also present at the event.

The Ambassador emphasized the significance of Pak-US trade and investment relations, noting that the United States remains Pakistan's largest export destination, with total bilateral trade reaching 7.5 billion dollars in 2024. Pakistani exports to the U.S. account for nearly 20 percent of its global shipments. He highlighted that Pakistan offers a dynamic and forward-looking investment environment, supported by competitive incentives, a young workforce, and growing infrastructure.

He also discussed Pakistan's progress under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, an initiative aimed at streamlining investment approvals, accelerating regulatory clearances, and promoting public-private partnerships. The Ambassador invited American businesses to explore new opportunities in IT, agriculture, renewable energy, textiles, and manufacturing. He noted that Pakistan's startup ecosystem has attracted over 700 million dollars in venture funding in recent years and continues to grow.

Participants discussed the importance of strengthening diaspora-led entrepreneurship, improving access to U.S. markets through better logistics and digital infrastructure, and fostering collaboration between U.S. chambers and Pakistani industry bodies such as TDAP, PSEB, BOI, and SMEDA. In his remarks, Consul General Asim Ali Khan thanked the PACC leadership for their continuous efforts in building bridges between the business communities of both nations.
