Salik Announces Enhancement in Marriage, Death Grants for Labourers

Islamabad: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain has announced an enhancement in marriage and death grants for workers and labourers. In a video message, he stated that the governing body of the Workers Welfare Fund has approved an increase in the marriage grant from four hundred thousand rupees to six hundred thousand rupees, while the death grant has been elevated to one million rupees. These new rates are effective this year.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain emphasized that this increase aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to improve the lives of labourers. He recalled a promise made on Labour Day to advocate for workers' rights, highlighting a commitment to fulfilling promises. He stated that their approach to politics is practical, focusing on serving the people.

The Federal Minister praised the Workers Welfare Fund's role in supporting the welfare and well-being of workers and labourers, describing it as unparalleled. He noted efforts to make institutions profitable and mentioned ongoing reform processes aimed at aligning institutional priorities with international standards. Chaudhry Salik Hussain further shared that concrete measures are being taken daily to deliver tangible benefits to workers and labourers.

Labour unions and federations across the country have congratulated Minister Salik Hussain and Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfikar Ahmad for enhancing the marriage and death grants. They have called this a historic step that has boosted the morale of workers and labourers, reaffirming their trust in the government's labour welfare agenda.
