Pakistan and China Agree to Strengthen Multilateral Cooperation and Peaceful Coexistence

New york: Pakistan and China have agreed to continue working closely for the promotion of multilateralism, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and a rules-based international order. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Pakistan relations. He expressed China's desire to further strengthen strategic communication, carry forward traditional friendship, and deepen all-dimensional cooperation. Wang Yi emphasized China's commitment to accelerating the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, so that bilateral relations may better benefit the peoples of both countries and contribute to regional peace and security.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and to strengthening the bonds of friendship for future generations. The two leaders felicitated each other on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and expressed satisfaction that the milestone was commemorated in a befitting manner through the exchange of high-level visits, joint receptions, and commemorative activities. They also welcomed the close diplomatic coordination between the leadership of the two countries.

In this regard, Ishaq Dar recalled the high-level visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Hangzhou and Beijing, China, from 23 to 26 May, during which leadership-level engagements were held, along with discussions on economic cooperation, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the broader bilateral partnership. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the recent convening of two rounds of Party-to-Party mechanisms, the Pakistan-China Political Parties Forum and the CPEC Joint Consultative Mechanism, in Beijing helped strengthen linkages between major political parties of Pakistan and the Communist Party of China.

He appreciated China's continued support for Pakistan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, national dignity, and independent development path. He also acknowledged China's assistance during Pakistan's economic stabilization efforts, including support at international financial institutions. The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan remains firmly committed to the One-China principle and will continue to support China on issues concerning its core interests.

Ishaq Dar is visiting New York on the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi to attend the UN Security Council Open Debate on 'Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centred International System,' held on Tuesday under China's Presidency of the Security Council.
